OUTDOOR PLAY
Jumping. Running. Climbing. Having Fun. Physical activity is a core component of every child's development, promoting self-confidence and re-charging the mind.

Odyssey understands this, and has developed what we believe to be the finest playgrounds anywhere.

Odyssey was the first childcare company in the country to utilize permanent, poured-in-place, soft safety surfacing on all its play areas. This rubbery material is cleaner, safer, and healthier than all other usual playground materials - mulch, sand, pea gravel, etc.

The preschool structures have been specifically designed to provide ample opportunities for exploration and physical exertion, featuring slides, bridges, crawl-through tubes, monkey bars, rock walls, creative play panels and other fun elements.

Odyssey also has special infant and toddler play structures on which there are no openings more than 6” off the ground. These devices feature more basic elements which facilitate early physical development amongst our younger children.

All Odyssey play structures are covered with awnings to provide shade from the hot southern sun. Odyssey also provides permanent covered play areas with roof over-hangs so that our children can go outside even on rainy days.

And, speaking of the hot southern sun, every child loves to play in the water. Odyssey offers water fountains in which children can run and jump in their swimsuits during the summer months.

And all of Odyssey's playgrounds are divided into distinct sections to keep older and younger children separated.

Finally, because of Odyssey's strong belief that outdoor play represents such unique opportunities for different types of learning, Odyssey requires that its staff interact with the children on the playground, guiding the children in active games and physical play. There are no chairs and benches for the teachers to just sit and chat. Compared to the classrooms inside the school, outdoor play at Odyssey is another spectacular, but different environment for learning.
